Golden Victoria three day small group personalised signature tour takes you into the Golden heart of Victoria.

Victoria’s frenetic goldrush of the 1850’s is one of the great gold rushes of the world and has left a lasting and vivid legacy.

You can see the evidence in every Goldfields town and city, with the splendid streetscapes of Ballarat, Bendigo, and Maldon, and in the grand buildings such as the Maryborough Railway Station and the Market Building in Castlemaine.

You can re-live the goldrush by panning for gold at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat and by going down a gold mine at the Central Deborah Goldmine in Bendigo. They take you to the main attractions of Ballarat and Bendigo, but we also take you off the tourist trail to show you the smaller towns and the out of the way places that are rich in goldrush history and heritage.

You experience the wildlife/wildflowers of the Goldfields region, which is colder and wetter on the southern side of the Great Dividing Range and is hotter and dryer on the northern side. A chance to spot kangaroo, echidna and wallabies, plus a myriad of birds in the forests and grasslands.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.

©️ 2026 Visit Ballarat. This initiative is funded by the City of Ballarat and Tourism Midwest Victoria.
